Hives, is an outbreak of swollen, pale red bumps or plaques on the skin that appear suddenly either as a result of the body's reaction to certain allergens. Appear on the skin as red, very itchy, smoothly elevated areas of skin often with a blanched centre. They appear in varying shapes and sizes.

Hives are very common. They usually go away on their own, but if you have a serious case, you might need medicine or a shot. In rare cases, hives can cause a dangerous swelling in your airways, making it hard to breathe.
